How We Live is a co-created, living, and evolving document that has been developed in response to concern for the housing ecosystem in Aotearoa after the COVID-19 crisis hit our shores.
On this journey, we’ve explored our shared responsibility for the existing state of housing and the urgent need to resolve it, for the benefit of current and future generations of New Zealanders.
It has been designed to support Aotearoa New Zealand’s housing ecosystem and those of us who live within it, by creating opportunities for more inclusive housing discussions, encouraging the co-creation of a path forward and transparent dialogue.
It explores:
What is a home?
How does the housing ecosystem work and what are some of the key challenges?
What new map can help us to better understand the housing ecosystem as it relates to our natural world?
How can we rethink the housing continuum to better match current needs?
How might the development of Collective Housing become a catalyst for change in housing in Aotearoa?
What key actions could be useful from different parts of the sector?
What could the future of housing in Aotearoa look like?
This book aims to engage in a dialogue to uncover the complex, interconnected factors contributing to the current crisis, and proposes a new way to view housing.
